  I grew up Amish and was excommunicated for leaving and there’s still some pain there.<br>Remember, whoever listens to this, don’t generalize the Amish, because they vary greatly from district to district and state to state. Right now the Amish in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania are going through a lot of changes. Don’t be afraid to talk to them about what you believe. If you’re a Christian, you can help greatly to help them make wise choices and not just throw everything out. They are probably more open now than they ever have been.

  Hey, we have the same name and we’re the same age. But I didn’t leave the Amish until I was 35 but thankfully the kids were still young enough that we could all leave as a family.

  We worked with Mennonite and Amish people for a number of years, and they are very rooted in legalism. &nbsp; And he&apos;s right about not belonging, never being accepted into friendship or as part of the group. &nbsp;We are &nbsp;Christian and have charismatic beliefs, and there were some Mennonites and Amish who seemed to really know the Lord. &nbsp;They had a heart for God and were truly born again, &nbsp;but they&apos;re still caught in the web of legalism. &nbsp; <br>People put them on a pedestal as though they&apos;re truly good people and can do no wrong and are very &quot;religious&quot;. &nbsp;But they&apos;re no &quot;better&quot; or more holy than anyone else. &nbsp;They&apos;re sinners in need of a Savior.

  Thank you for this. &nbsp;I always say Amish are a cult. They listen to the Bishop instead of having a relationship with Jesus and following scripture.
