  I loved watching him transition from &quot;Sadness is F*cking us up&quot; to &quot;you&apos;re allowed to feel sad, you&apos;re meant to get your emotions out&quot; and fun fact - this movie specifically started a boom in the therapy room, especially with children. It gave therapists a strong identifiable and visual reference point to help kids, adolescents, and adults explore, identify, and explain not only their own emotions, but their emotional relationships with others.

  Inside out is a masterpiece and is actually used in a lot of therapy settings to explain why all feelings are important!

  I love that Riley&apos;s depression was fueled by her loss of Joy <b>and</b> Sadness. They didn&apos;t conflate sadness with depression. They are not the same, and it is very much about loss of emotions rather than just being sad all the time.

  I know that&apos;s probably most peoples first instinct, but it always pisses me off when people think sadness is messing up in the beginning. Joy is the one messing it up by trying to suppress the other emotions, Sadness is just doing her job!

  this is still my favorite movie. sadness kept touching the memories even though she knew she &quot;shouldn&apos;t&quot; bc it was what Riley was actually feeling. joy kept masking over sadness even though Riley was actually upset about moving. the movie has a really good way of depicting emotional conflict and suppression, eventually it just overflows into fits of anger until you go emotionally numb. the mom&apos;s sadness is like the one in charge because it has evolved into a more complex emotion; empathy. it doesn&apos;t just tone it down to &quot;you need sadness to feel happiness&quot; but shows that sadness is just one of our many emotions and we need to feel to validate it just as much as our other emotions

  I love how we see the emotions and their place with the parents. You see sadness as the center and all of them sitting in a table together since the mom is now mature and had over come depression. Meanwhile you see the dad the same with the table and emotions together but anger is at the center meaning he had anger issues during his life . Riley on the other hand has the emotions all scattered around and more free showing how she’s still a kid and is still learning to be more mature.

  Sooo many things about this film are genius but one small detail that I think gets overlooked is when Riley gets up for that first day of school and Joy tells Sadness to stay within the circle she draws on the floor, saying it is her job to keep all the sadness inside the circle. That was literally Riley making the decision to put on a brave face, be optimistic and ignore the fact she is actually feeling sad that day. Something we all do way too much. And a lot of people think sadness is annoying because she constantly touches things and doesn&apos;t listen but the point is that no one can control feeling sad, it&apos;s not a choice, it can&apos;t be helped. And as the film shows, more damage is done by ignoring it and trying to force happiness rather than just allowing yourself to feel sad and move passed it.

  I really used to bottle up my emotions as a kid cuz I thought I had to be a happy kid for everyone. But once I reached a certain age, I couldnt handle it anymore and hit severe depression. Kids should br taught about importance of all emotions 🤕🤕

  The ending where she’s talking to her parents ALWAYS makes me cry, doesn’t matter when I watch it or if I’ve been watching the movie before hand or not. It hits too hard, being relied on by your parents for emotional stability and not being up to par. Pixar hits and it hits hard
