I have a couple of ideas for you…

Eyeshadow: I suggest you look into “depotting” your BIG eyeshadows/blushes into a magnetic pallet. Then you can customize your makeup pallet each time with whatever colour eyeshadow(s) & blush you want to take that trip.

[DYI your own magnetic pallet: I used a square compact & glued in a thin magnetic sheet inside to make my “magnetic makeup pallet”. Then, to remove the eyeshadow/blush from the existing container….1) I heated the back with a hairdryer to loosen the glue. 2) Then I used a safety pin to CAREFULLY pry the metal encased eyeshadow from the existing container. Note 1: If your eyeshadow metal is not magnetic - some of mine were not - I just glue on a thin magnet (from the dollarstore) onto the metal base of the eyeshadow. Note 2: I did put in a very thin powder puff on top of the shadow to protect them since my tin is a bit thicker than my eyeshadows and some where different thickness/heights, especially the ones I put a magnet on….just for added protection. Now I can mix & match! ]

DYI - SMALL Solid Deodorant by decanting YOUR FAVOURITE into a Lip Balm Stick:
I like solid deodorant but for travel it’s too big (and the travel size ones are a waste of money because they really don’t have much deodorant in them and they’re still bulky). So I cut off a chunk of deodorant from my large deo stick (or better yet, when your deodorant stick is nearly finished there is always some stuck in the bottom - scrape that out and use it).

Put the deodorant chunk into a glass jug or microwave safe container and microwave it at 10 seconds increments until it’s melted. Then have ready an an old Lip Balm stick or kids water-based Glue Stick (that has been *thoroughly cleaned out*) or an old lipstick 💄 and pour the melted deodorant into it (work QUICKLY as it will start to solidify fast!) Then place it in the freezer to hasten/finalize the solidification. After a few minutes, the deodorant will become completely solid & ready to use as you normally would use your larger deodorant.
[!! Caution: some lip-balm sticks or lipsticks have a hole in the bottom, so you may need to put a tiny bit of plastic in the bottom of your lip-balm stick first (I used a yoghurt lid)].

So in my kit I have: A regular sized lip balm container that is Thumb sized (=4.8g) full of deodorant that I always keep in my travel toiletries kit (which lasts me a long time!) But I also carry a TINY lip balm container the size of 1/2 of my pinky finger length (2g) for my purse that I use at home/work (which I also use in my airplane toiletries kit when I go on a long haul flights). You’ll be surprised how much a small lip balm sized deodorant lasts….its all you need for a trip for several weeks, even when I was in Africa.

“Olay Daily Facials Water-Activated 5-In-One Hydrating Wipes”:
As most people have figured out, cut the sheet into quarters (or less), because you only need a quarter of the sheet for your face. However, I use the other quarter for my armpits (etc. 😉) to keep me fresh when I’m on a long haul flight (or as I did on my Safari).
———
One lady on here mentioned her wipes cant be used on eyes to remove makeup, but the type I’ve mentioned above are…it even states on the box to use it to remove mascara…..so no extra eye-make up remover required. Olay also has tiny “Olay Melts” but I have not used them yet.

This is great! I love a great challenge. Am I going to try this? Yes. Are we travelling anywhere? No. But this is my idea of a fun Friday night. 😂

Edited to add --> Okay..I've tried this every way I can think of and can't get everything to fit in one bag. I think what's tripping me up is my hair care. I also have wavy/curly hair and my current shampoo/conditioner is liquid. You used shampoo/conditioner bars in this video. Do you use them all the time or only when you travel? Your curls are always on point. 🎯 If I could get my hair to behave with bars I would switch. But I haven't had much luck with bars, yet I've not tried the ones mentioned in this video.

Great job. I’m going to try this. My only critique would be that sunblock would not be enough. If applying the correct amount on the face that won’t last two weeks. If using it on the body and applying correct dose, there would be about two maybe three applications. Even on a cloudy day a significant amount of UV rays hit us.

My toiletries are similar to yours. I like a slightly bigger bag that isn't filled completely, then there's room for my fingers to reach in and take things out, without having to empty entire bag everytime.

Very impressive to get all that into such a small bag! Another way to save a little space is instead of using that admittedly small container of dental floss, pull off however many individual lengths of floss you think you will use during your trip and just put those in a small snack sized Ziploc bag. It will take almost no room because it’s flat and very thin. And regarding those Olay face cloths, I believe Eunice from Theory of Simple cuts them at least in half, if not quarters, as you were suggesting.

I thought I was the only one who was obsessed with organza bags. They are SO GOOD for so many things: jewelry, cosmetics, bits n bobs

Thank you for this! Love the toiletry bag. Call me a dork, but I buy a few contact lens cases, use them for creams and liquid makeup, then throw away upon returning home.

A trick for those wanting to add mascara; I often bring a 'brow mascara' instead. Make sure to take the darkest colour, works just like normal mascara but smaller :)
If you only use one eyeshadow colour, I highly recommend getting an eyeshadow pencil in that colour (you can absolutely cut it in half and sharpen with a pencil sharpener to reduce the size even further btw).
For those really looking to go minimalist: waterproof makeup basically comes off with any oil (wipe off with toilet paper, wash with soap after). So I never bring make-up remover, I'll just use oil from the kitchen (or hair oil when I bring some) to remove the make-up.

Lastly, Muji has some tiny squeeze tubes that are great for serum or cream! (I don't like putting my fingers in the cream, sensitive skin here..)

I use a contact case for my face day and night cream. I cut the Oil of Olay cloths into fourths. And try a Matador Bag for bar shampoo. Might be my most favorite travel accessory. It doesn’t work well for the bar conditioner.

Hmm, I don’t know about clipping the toothbrush to the outside of the bag. I’d rather find a slightly larger bag to lessen the chance of dirt and germs sneaking through the openings of the toothbrush case.
