  call it shallow, materialistic or even consumerist but there’s something i find very comforting about being surrounded by the films, literature and music that i enjoy. obviously it seems counterintuitive to spend so much money on physical media that i can easily access in digital formats on a plethora of different electronic devices, but actually owning a tangible embodiment of the art that i love brings a sense of satisfaction that i just wouldn’t get from using a streaming service.

  Going to the record store is a different experience all together. I understand that you’re ordering your favorite albums or building up a library of your favorite stuff, but the cool thing about record stores is going in with no expectation and browsing the shelves. I might pick up a nice record at the full retail price, but it’s also cool to dig in the cheap records and find some old gems or give something completely random a chance because it has an interesting name or artwork and it’s only a few bucks. A big majority of my records I would have never thought to order if I was shopping online and I would not own them if I had not come across them at the record store.

  Finally a video about vinyl 😭Its so hard to explain to people why I like it so much and this gives me such a good way to show them. Love the stuff man please keep it up!

  On babying your records: I have records from all over the 20th century, some of which were manufactured in a backyard in Jamaica made from 50% recycled tyres or some shit and they've never seen anything but paper sleeves. The records I inherited from my dad have been played a million times and have scuffs and scratches everywhere. It's part of their story and of how people played the shit out if them because they actually loved the music and that's how I think I'll keep honoring the format the most.

  My girlfriend got me my first record player last week for my 30th with my 3 favourite Gorillaz albums and I&apos;ve fallen straight down the rabbit hole

  I cannot stress how much money you&apos;d be saving if you shopped local. I get buying from the big retailers for new drops or new albums that you want to get. But taking the time and going to a local record shop you can find a good 2 or 3 vinyls for a fraction of what you pay for 1. I&apos;ve been collecting vinyl since I was in college and bought my first record player in 2013 but trust me when I say, if you were strapped for cash there is still a way to get your vinyl fix by shopping local and getting a used vinyl. Nothing beats that feeling of going in and finding a record you want that is used and you end up purchasing for a fraction of the cost of a new copy.

  all depends on your setup! if u got a really good setup with a good turntable and speakers, you’ll never wanna listen to music any other way
