  When Ex Machina came out, I was utterly floored. My wife told me many years ago that when she worked at a day care, the true sign of intelligence in very young children was whether they could emotionally manipulate their caretakers. That was exactly what this movie showcased.

  Theres a whole extra layer of the movie. Caleb is a chess master, and labors under the beleif that a greater game is being played. When the power is cut, the camera points down... but a camera doesnt move when it loses power... this was performative. Caleb thought this was part of the chess game, as was evas warning; a performance.<br><br>Its at the very end, when caleb realizes nathan is not a chess player, did not personally vet him at all, and has not been playing chess games what so ever, that he realizes it was eve he has been playing against, and just as he realizes this, he has already lost.

  This movie from Ava&apos;s perspective is literally a golden plot for a video game, one on the same wavelength as Prey.

  It&apos;s interesting to look up the names of the characters in that movie and find out what they mean. They are definitely not chosen at random by the script writer.

  Did you notice also that Ava did not try to help or to rescue Kyoko? &nbsp;Ava left bot Nathan and Kyoko behind when they no longer served her purposes. &nbsp;You understand now?

  Does Ava fail her ethical duty to Caleb, as much as Caleb fails Kyoko? Caleb&apos;s self-administered physical exam underscores this question.
