  I think the misunderstanding here works better than in other examples because it ultimately doesn't matter that Fiona was talking about herself and not Shrek. When you self-depricate, you're still tearing down others because you're saying the trait itself (in this case, being an ogre) is wrong or undesirable.

  Backstory for Pin Pon:<br>So, usually in LATAM the dub is made by professional voice actors, and not by celebrities like in the US. But for this movie DreamWorks wanted celebrities working for the Spanish version as well. <br>The thing is, in those years dubbing wasn&apos;t well paid or recognized, so Eugenio Derbez, the celebrity actor that ended up playing Donkey, said &apos;&apos;Okay, you know what? If I&apos;m taking this rol, I&apos;m gonna make my own version of Donkey&apos;&apos; and so he, alongside the other writers, worked to adapt the whole script to Mexican jokes and references, including talking about the actors&apos; past filmography. They wanted to make sure the audience could recognize that the actors playing the character were Latinos, and so the characters would be talking like Latinos as well. So when we watch the English version, it&apos;s just not funny to us because all the jokes a references are from the US. For example, nobody knows what The Muffin Man is, but everyone knows Pin Pon because if a famous song for kids here.<br>Nowadays movies and series are adapted to have a &apos;&apos;neutral&apos;&apos; Spanish, so the jokes and references are literal translations of the English version. That&apos;s why Shrek is such a cult classic on LATAM, it&apos;s just so us. <br><br>One of my favorite parts is the &apos;&apos;Ogres are onions&apos;&apos; scenes, because not many people know or eat Parfait, so instead of that Donkey says &apos;&apos;What about Neapolian Ice Cream?&apos;&apos;

  Is very important for me to say that both Eddie Murphy and Eugenio Derbez did such an amazing job voicing donkey. Being able to make the same character funny in 2 different languages is a talent.
