A great commander ever lived in the Afghan soil who protected against external odds....His son Ahmad Massoud is doing the same which is really good....I pray that he succeeds what his father started. 💖💖

Ahmed Shah Masoud is the most honourable man, I have known of his struggle against tyranny since 1982 from Sandy Gall's ITN journals. My political awareness was heightened by news of his history. God bless his memory, thanks for posting this.

As an Englishman I know very little about Afghanistan and knew even less 20 years ago yet I was still aware of the Lion of Panjshir and how this hero took it to the Soviets.

A born leader, a brave warrior and a truly wise man who was completely sold down the river by the West when he needed our help and then lost his life in the most heart breaking way too.

I know he has a son who comes across very well when he speaks, I pray to God that for the good of Afghanistan he can now continue where his father left off.

Rest in Peace mighty Lion from the Heart of England

Massoud, the real representative of Afghans. May his legacy lives on, Saleh and Zia Massoud will keep resisting Taliban from the Panjshir.

If you don't know who Ahmad Shah Massoud is, In this occasion, I present him, because he is the character that i love and respect so much, he was born in Panjshir in (1953– 2001), Tajik (persian) political and military leader. He dedicated his life to the dream of bringing democracy and independence to Greater Khorasan/ Afghanistan. He fought against Soviet occupation and the nickname of "Lion of Panjshir“ among his followers as he successfully resisted the Soviets from taking Panjshir Valley 9 times. He fought against Osama Bin Laden. He fought against the oppression of the Taliban Afghans(pashtons) and talibans Pakistanis, in fact he was the only remaining opposition commander against the totalitarian Taliban afghan regime. He fought for the equality of women. He was a warrior for peace. You can find more than 100 books, 100 songs in Farsi, and more than 10 songs in Italian, French, English about him.
He said "Death is better than life in humiliation".

Ironically this valley still holds the key to the future of Afghanistan once US troops leave.
