  I can't believe I spent 23.5 minutes watching Jakub replace a headliner for a car that I don't own....  Entertaining and informative if I ever do buy an SL500 though 😄

  Great job, thank you for sharing. I am about to undertake the same job with my recently purchased &apos;94 SL 500, however am a bit confused about the fabric to purchase. <br>Sellers list trim mostly with a thin foam layer, some just the fabric without a foam backing. It&apos;s a little hard to tell from the video what you used. <br>In your opinion/experience which would you suggest for the job? Thank you in advance for any advice.

  Most upholsterers will overhang by 2 cm, and they&apos;ll glue the whole overhang to the backside. Once it&apos;s dry, they&apos;ll cut the excess fabric in a uniform distance from the edge, and they peel up and off the cut excess. This gives you fully adhered fabric to the very edge of the wrap, so it won&apos;t curl off over time, and it gives you a little wiggle room for mistakes and mess.

  Really nice job Jakub. Now all I need to get is the hard top stand, a bunch of material and &nbsp; expensive headline glue, (if it&apos;s even available in UK!!) and get cracking before my headlining ends up on my lap.😂

  I&apos;m so glad my R129 has the glass panoramic hardtop which won&apos;t suffer from that problem ; just enjoying the last days of nice weather before I put it on for the winter , plus I need to get the soft top properly dry before putting it away . Have to say , though , that my previous R129 which did have the standard aluminium hardtop never suffered from that problem at all over the seven years I had it ; mind you the hardtop lay in my garage most of the time as I drove with the top down at every opportunity ; and do also with my current one .
