"Swan Lake," the quintessential classical ballet, will take the stage at the Seoul Arts Center Opera Theater starting on the 14th. This production marks the second consecutive year that the Seoul Arts Center and the Universal Ballet Company have jointly planned this event. Jeon Min-cheol, a First Soloist with the Mariinsky Ballet in Russia, will appear in the role of Prince Siegfried. This marks Jeon Min-cheol's return to a full-length domestic stage after completing his first season with the Mariinsky Ballet, which he joined last year. At a press conference held today (the 6th) at the Seoul Arts Center in Seocho-gu, Jeon Min-cheol shared his thoughts on returning to the domestic stage, stating, "What I learned most in Russia was not technique, but acting; emotion comes before movement." Regarding "Swan Lake," he expressed his affection, calling it "a work I have cherished the most since childhood," and remarking, "Every time I watched it from the audience, I could hear the swan's voice and the prince's voice." Meanwhile, Moon Hoon-sook, Director of the Universal Ballet, recalled her own performance in the Kirov Ballet’s production of Giselle in 1989, expressing her sentiments by saying, "The dancer we nurtured has now returned as the lead on that stage." In response to a question about whether engaging in exchanges with the Russian ballet world amidst the war felt burdensome, she replied, "More than anyone, I hope the war ends as soon as possible," adding, "The more difficult the times, the more important the power of culture and art is, transcending nations and ideologies." Principal dancer Hong Hyang-gi will play the roles of Odette and Odile, Jeon Min-cheol’s counterparts, marking their third collaboration following La Bayadère and *Giselle*. In addition, six pairs of principal dancers—including Lee Hyun-jun, Lee Dong-tak, and Elizaveta Cheprasova—will share the 11 performances. The National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Kim Sung-jin, will provide the musical accompaniment.
