  Your natural curiosity Simon = videos with lots of meat on the bone. You make learning fun from the inside/out of places, people, and air travel. From looking across the water at Africa to watching a dog leave some real estate on an active runway, Gibraltar 🇬🇮 was full of surprises, eh?   The name is derived from Arabic: جبل طارق, Jabal Ṭāriq, Mount of Tariq&apos; (named after the 8th-century North African military leader Tariq ibn Ziyad, who began the Muslim conquest of the Iberian Peninsula via the Strait of Gibraltar in 711).<br><br>Before detailing the history focused on northern Europe, it is important to specify that this rock was developed during the Islamic conquest of Europe and the Iberian Peninsula, which lasted for 8 centuries (a significant period) and benefited from the science and flourishing trade of the various Muslim empires.<br><br>Today, it is a British rock, but with a culture still deeply influenced by its proximity to Africa and its Mediterranean culture.<br><br>Your videos are always as fascinating and enriching as ever; we share your passion.

  Geographic irony is when you pointed and said Africa you’re pointing to the Spanish version of Gibraltar called Ceuta which is a tiny Spanish enclave in Morocco. The sister enclave Melilla is further east. Spain took them in the 15th and 17th centuries so Spain complaining about UK’s Gibraltar territory in what would otherwise be Spain is a bit rich when they have 2 outposts themselves. <br>Thanks for another great video Simon.
