I'm a judo black belt weighing 85kgs. Once I had a light wrestling match with a 60kg Czechoslovakian woman. We fell to the concrete. Her knees were bleeding. She would not stop, I was not winning!
Impressive strength🇳🇿🥝🥋

If you train vertical lifting, you will get good at vertical lifting. However, if practice nothing else then you will still be garbage at everything else. If you want a strong body that does not break in the field, you need to practice 3D strength. Do everyday common tasks but do them heavy and well, with thick fat grips or towels to train your grip well. Do exercises that target every major function of the body. Run, jump, turn. Push, pull, bend, and lever. Lift sacks, push a wheel barrow, shovel sand, lift buckets, and swing a hammer. If you do basic manual labor you at a high level you will be very strong. Add on calisthenics for whole body strength.

It's a lot more difficult to train, you can't just periodize it linearly with huge impressive weights, but 360 degree motion is what you need to practice to have strength without gaps and joints that don't snap. Practice it at the hips and shoulders. Practice it with your hands as well and you should be golden. Train your feet with running and jumping, but take care to train your ankles as that is often the forgotten weak and lack of point of stability in the leg.

Leaves out that soviets developed a superior steroid for the 1952 Olympics. I do love their work, like through plyometrics and kettlebells but the advent of a newer better steroid was a huge innovation at the time.
