Slow practice is something every piano teacher would recommend. It's not just a violin or a flute thing thing.

2:23 using a tuner to get the proper pitch definitely helps. People can generally play a scale from memory and watch the line stays in the middle and the green light on the tuner. It's only a temporary visual guide since we read music as we play instead of looking at the tuner. We're not just seeing the needle in the center, our ears are also picking up a correct pitch and recording it into memory so we know how an "A" should sound. At the same time the finger for a note is registering the exact position. As an alternative, go in front of a piano. Hit a key and play the same on the violin to hear how far off you are. Again you're reading music as you play a piece, not looking at the tuner.

I play the indian classical violin. Picking it up after more than 12 years, I miss some intonations. I have watched multiple videos on the topic trying to pick up tips from many players. A couple of new things that I learnt from you is that it is a two note problem and preparing the hand for the next note. Very well said and thank you. :)

I loved the face you were pulling at the start because it was me today. I'm at hour 30 since returning to violin and I have a cheap electro acoustic violin. I restringed to Pirastro Tonica and bought a cheap carbon bow but it still sounds on the harsh and squeaky side of things. Today I'm getting serious over intonation as I know how Canon is supposed to sound and try as I might, though I can play the notes of simplified Canon, the intonation is awful. From left hand frame, bow hold, violin support and my stance, I'm in a battle. I'm considering trying dark rosin, but I'm holding back until I've tried returning to white 3mm finger tapes tomorrow. I know what you said about this and as a DJ I have a very good ear for key. I think a combination off all factors is the issue and until I work on each element I'm going to sound "off". I played my first piece on electric publicly on Saturday at a pub gig to cheers and applause (String a simple raga - Abracadabra) and I am spurred on for future DJ events and weddings. But, not without some "serious improvement". Subbed!
I have a video on my channel of me playing at beginner hour 22 with curved bowing which is relatively amusing and not too painful on the ear if your interested to see me play. I found due to the position of my sheet I was losing focus and now have the sheet in front of the scroll.

Great advice. I think another important aspect of intonation is practising scales and arpeggios regularly.
