I like that the Gunners will warn you sometimes but in practice they are still way too aggressive. It doesn't make any sense for a mercenary organization to want to kill anyone who happens to pass by, especially if that person is the Sole Survivor in a suit of power armour with a gatling laser, and 4 followers, also in power armour. <br><br>At a certain point you would think that they would leave you alone. <br>"Oi Bruv, isn't that the General of the Minutemen who also works for the Brotherhood of Steel and used a giant death robot to destroy the Institute? Let's fucking shoot at him."

Who would win: a entire organized force of gunners with power armor and high-tech weaponry or one shooty boi in a blue jumpsuit

I feel like the minuteman story should've at some point had a focus on defeating the gunners

"Gunners respect boundaries". Say that to Bridget often killing us in Finch Farm with a Fatman all the way from Hub City Auto Wreckers

I actually found a scene where a brotherhood vertibird landed and then it was hijacked by the gunners. There was brotherhood corpse right next to the vertibird.

If I had to guess, I would say that the Gunner mercs were established by another remnant of the U.S. military. Just like the founding of the Brotherhood of Steel, I think that a splinter faction of the Military broke away after October 23 and tried to rebuild their organization only to fall into mercenary work just to survive. It's possible that they at first were just trying to get by and after several generations forgot about their past, becoming the callous mercenary group we now see.

What I hate most about the Gunners are their Assaultrons.

<b>"Feelings?</b> Look mate, you know who has a lot of <b>feelings?</b> Folks that bludgeon their companions to death with a 2076 World Series Swatter. Professionals have <i>STANDARDS.</i> Warn people when getting too close to your bases, respect the chain of command, and ALWAYS have a plan to run at people with a security baton in the middle of combat."- an average Gunner on the nature of his job, 2287.

I was extremely confused when I first started playing Fallout 4 and noticed the Gunners were not only attacking you on sight, but also had killed most of the Minutemen at Quincy.<br><br>Took me a long while to figure out that the faction I was remembering is called "The Gun Runners" and not "The Gunners"

Ox, I love you man, but you missed the same thing everybody misses, the Tournquist family.<br><br>Bonnie Tournquist was at the Mass Bay Medical Center when the bombs dropped. The Med Center survived the blast, but when members of the army found it, they took it over, forcing the medical staff to prioritize them over others. With their weapons, armor, and established hierarchy, soldiers like this all over the Wasteland were better off than your average survivor. <br><br>In short, what happened at Mass Bay happened all over the place, and before long these disparate groups got together and organized into a mercenary organization. Cut off from the higher ranks (like the Commander in Chief) much of the U.S. Military became Gunners. In many ways, the Gunners and the Brotherhood have the same origin story, both the descendants of military survivors.
