C.I.D. Actor Hrishikesh reveals TV Actor Salaries, Typecasting & Cost of being Famous | UT EP108

Join us for the 110th episode of Digital Commentary’s Unfolding Talents Podcast featuring Hrishikesh Pandey — the iconic face of Indian Television, best known as Inspector Sachin from the legendary show C.I.D. He’s also been part of major TV shows and films like Kahani Terri Merri, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, Viraasat, Adaalat, Runway 34, and Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke alongside Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan. In this raw and honest conversation, Hrishikesh opens up about being typecast after C.I.D., what went behind shooting those iconic episodes, and the challenges of shifting from lead roles to a supporting part in such a massive franchise. He also shares his take on the show’s transition from Sony TV to Netflix, and the real-life incident where a police officer refused to take his complaint seriously, saying “Aap toh CID mein ho sir, kaise chori ho gayi?” He reacts to viral CID memes, and talks about how the show changed his perspective towards life, making him more grounded and responsible. Apart from C.I.D., Hrishikesh dives into working with Ekta Kapoor, overtaking Hema Malini’s car and her reaction during the shoot of Kamini Damini, and collaborating with Raj Kanwar, the director who launched Shah Rukh Khan. In an emotional segment, he shares the experience of shooting just after the loss of a loved one, and gives his controversial opinion on depression — calling out the trend of romanticizing sadness. “People will leave you if you’re always sad,” he says. Towards the end, Hrishikesh gives a rare insight into the earnings of TV actors vs film stars, and reflects on whether television lost its charm in the OTT era. Whether you're a CID fan, a TV nostalgia lover, or someone who values real stories from the entertainment industry, this episode is filled with rare perspectives, emotional moments, and hard-earned wisdom from a respected actor’s journey.
