“Two madams were involved in a serious fight in the home of one of these women. The instigator was shot in the fracas, while the doctor reported that the bullet was in her yet.” That would have been a more fitting headline.

A 6-foot tall, 230 lb woman is NOT at all enormous or morbidly obese. In fact, a woman possessing such a frame is generally regarded as curvy, voluptuous or shapely, although such factors as bone size and density, height and genetics play significant roles in determining one's shape and proportions. A woman who is 5-feet tall and weighs 230 lbs will look tremendously different from a woman of Alice's stature who weighs the same.

The news media's childish obsession with Alice's weight struck me as rather odd considering the normality and prominence of women bearing similar figures today. In fact, the average woman in the U.S. today stands at 5'5, weighs 185 lbs and wears a size 18 dress. This was not the case in 1880, when women were significantly shorter, smaller framed and relatively svelte. While obesity has always existed throughout every culture and era, the vast majority of people were relatively trim until the second half of the 20th century. The introduction of fast food, Hungry Man's TV dinners, canned meats, biggie size menu options, and 24-hour food delivery at the tap of a key has had a profound effect on our weight and general health. The lack of available green space for kids to play on coupled by the prominence of social media and video gaming has all but sent our children directly to the cardiac unit! The lack of bicycle and pedestrian zones has also contributed immensely to our ever expanding waistlines. In a nation designed for the automobile, we are limited in our options of places to safely walk and exercise. We can join a gym, I suppose, but gyms suck and we end up only using our memberships for the carmel Frappuccinos, hot tubs and masseuse services.

I'm subscribed to THE WILD WEST EXTRAVAGANZA and I think this person gets his/her ideas from him and then uses AI to make videos on the same subject.
