  My dad had a mk2 ghia (metallic blue with a black vinyl roof) nnd226p i paused the part where you turned the key and that dash lit up cos it took me right back to being a kid ..... thank you

  I would be very tempted to give that old Essex engine a little bit of a mild turbo boost for maybe 120bhp with a slightly higher rear differential ratio - just to make it a bit nicer to drive on modern day roads. Overall a gorgeous job lads..👌🇬🇧

  What a great restoration, great job fellas. For the modified car please do not do a rally replica as it's been done to death and back. Have a look into zakspeed in Germany for touring/racing inspiration for something a little different. If you're having to restore the shell like the previous one maybe a full type 49 upgrade while the body is apart, world cup cross member, and how about scheel seats from a MK3 rs1600i but fit fishnet head rests. Modern engine? Well all this obviously depends on budget but hopefully you will at least consider my suggestions. Looking forward to part 2. 😎😎👍👍

  I t remember visiting Johannesburg back in 79 from the U.K. and seeing my first 3.0 Litre Cortina Ghia. It was love at first sight. 😍

  Great work lads, as a rally fan and competitor you got to love an Escort. I did have a MK2 RS2000 broad stripe, which i re built, but not to your standard, credit to you both.

  Great video and first class job.  I had one of these from new in midnight blue with silver pinstripes, bought tax-free whilst serving in Germany in 1980.
