  I was at our main hifi show in Australia last year. I walked into a room on the 2nd day of the show and instantly I heard something was not right. I said to the demonstrator, i believe your system is out of phase. One guy sitting in the audience said &quot; you&apos;ve got an ear infection &quot; . He then left. 3 mins later, after the demonstrator agreed to take one more look at the back of his system, he rewired the right channel in phase, and voila, the sound came to life. His response was, where were you yesterday when I needed you? So after 1.5 days of demonstration I was the only person to have picked up the fault. This absolutely amazed me that all these so called audiophiles can&apos;t discern or know when a system is out of phase. He said he&apos;d wracked his brain trying to find out why his system sounded so bad and in the end , he&apos;d put it down to the room.

  Just as the look of equipment can increase enjoyment of the produced sound for some audiophiles, knowing that the specs are &apos;good&apos; can create the same placebo effect for others. Accept that there are factors outside the &apos;sound&apos; of your audio which will contribute to your listening experience.

  Firstly, a warm welcome back to Zero Fidelity. Looking forward to his solo style of, straight talking, no nonsense reviews.<br><br>I’ve been into audio products that enable me to listen to and experience superbly reproduced music since the early 80s. Purchased the components, bought them home, set them up, sat back and enjoyed the music. That’s the way it should be! I guess I considered myself an audiophile. Since interacting with the interweb and YouTube community, and discovering that the community was soiled with esoteric elitists, I’ve no wish to associate with such a group or be labeled accordingly.<br><br>The biggest mistake I made, was taking their word as gospel. Addapting my system to the way they dictate is correct. Finding it made no improvements in sound quality to my original set up.

  Always: Turn on your source, then your preamp and then power amp. Turn off in reverse order. I always (try to) mute or turn volume to zero on the preamp before powering off.

  Another happy camper here as far as SVS customer service. A few years ago, a plate amp went out on my SVS subwoofer. I couldn&apos;t remember when I bought the amp so went on the SVS site and purchased replacement part. When part arrived, it was a different part number. When I reached out to SVS they responded that the part I had ordered was no longer manufactured and were very surprised that I was able to order it from them. They let me know that the more expensive part I had received was a perfect replacement for what I needed and that the sub was still under warranty based on serial number so the part was on them.
