  Context for the British one : the OP was 100% just being classist, &nbsp;“drinks and swears” and “unrefined” are upper middle class ways of saying &nbsp;“working class” without actually saying it so it doesn’t come off bad

  THe biggest issue of the family no longer celebrating birthdays is the animosity that this would cause. Imagine you are five and told you can&apos;t have a birthday because an uncle you never met died. You&apos;d start hating that dead uncle.

  The single biggest red flag in the birthday story (to the point where I&apos;m surprised they didn&apos;t catch it) is her saying &quot;My husband said I was being abusive, but I only said what I did because I was mad.&quot; She didn&apos;t deny being actively abusive to her husband, she only admitted she did so because she was angry, which is not an acceptable excuse. She needs therapy immediately.

  My brother passed away two days after his birthday, &nbsp;a year ago. We celebrated him in the hospital, surrounded by the people who loved him. This year we threw him a party. We invited those same people back, got his favorite cake, and sang the birthday song together in his memory. It was beautiful and enriching to see all of the people who loved him come back a year later to show how much they still care. I&apos;m sad that family could not see the brother&apos;s birthday as a reason to continue celebrating his memory even after he was gone.

  The fact that she said if she has free time shed catch up on chores just screams that the husband doesnt do them, yet still has time for at least two trips a week

  What really bothers me about the “my wife has no friends” guys is that he said he would get a sitter so she can do stuff. THEY HAVE SEVEN KIDS. WHO IS GOING TO BABYSIT FOR THEM? Getting a babysitter you trust is hard enough but one that would take on SEVEN KIDS?????

  Wildife care specialist here (fancy name for a zookeeper): note on the racoon wedding. Raccoons are wild animals, raising an animal in human care and training it does not make it &quot;tame&quot; or &quot;domesticated&quot;. Raccoons make great pets for some people, but they are still wild. Unless specifically requested, bringing wild animals to a wedding or other important event is totally inappropriate, regardless of how well trained they are.
