You either die a SpongeBob or live long enough to be a Squidward

"In case you've forgotten, here's how things work. I order the food, you cook the food, and then the customer gets the food. We do this for 40 years, and then we die. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me, what do you say?"

Bro we grew up with the most GOATED shows. Some of these cartoons had deep meanings that basically foretold the future.

 You nailed it at 12:30:
Work employee vs management vs ownership dynamics haven't really changed since 1998 when SB came out.
What has changed is that in 1998, you still likely had a soul crushing job where you were underpaid vs ownership profits, but the wages from that job covered your necessities. That's the fundamental difference:
Spongebob and Squid ward had the crappy jobs, but they could comfortably afford their homes, food, healthcare, multiple hobbies (clarinet, art, jellyfishing, bubble blowing, sandlicking) and even adult education (Ms. Puffs boating school) withoit really struggling.
If the show was created today, all three main characters would live together under Patrick's rock, even with the full time employment.

What's funny is kids don't know what cartoons are today. I saw a clip of a kid asking "what's a cartoon?" Their cartoons are youtubers and streamers

Seasons 1-3 SpongeBob was so good due to it being a cartoon that different audiences and different generations could enjoy. The artsyle, music, direction, were all unique. The jokes and topics were mature. The lessons and themes were relatable. You can also see the passion Stephen Hillenburg had for sea life. There was a noticeable decline when he left the show.

Post movie SpongeBob was ok season 4-5.

Modern SpongeBob is just brain rot and it’s sad to see the flanderizarion of its characters from multi dimensional to one dimensional characters.
