I can't say he was the best musician ever, but he has moved me like no other.

Nobody plays these pieces like Richter, the most imaginative poet of the piano. His timing is out of this world.

More proof that Richter was the greatest musician, technician, and poet who ever played the piano; thank you so much for providing this magical live performance!

So much more insight and musicality than most of today's performers. There's a shortage of great Debussy players nowadays if you ask me.

Glory to his fingers, to his ears, and to his understanding of such beautiful music, Richter' playing is a poem to my soul every single time.

An incredibly sensitive and refined ear for the subtlest and most precise gradations of sound, Richter knows a thousand degrees of pianissimi and shades of color and most importantly has the artistic soul that enables him to know where and when to employ them...Miraculously fully realized interpretations of Debussy's ever-elusive masterpieces, The Preludes, Book 1......

When I first listened to this LP, like a century ago, I was mesmerised, I am still mesmerised because, when a little later I learned some classical piano, I realized how difficult is to play Debussy like Richter did, for instance when in the music sheet it reads "ppp," something so subtle that people who can't hear well will not even hear it.  Nobody else has played these preludes like Richter.  There is also available a BBC version of these preludes by Richter, that I do recommend to anyone who likes Debussy.

No one plays &quot;Les Collines d&apos;Anacapri&quot; like Richter!
