  The politicians in Dallas think that property taxes is an endless pot of money. It’s not that they don’t have enough money, it’s that they don’t know how to budget. They spend like there is no tomorrow

  All property tax must be based on the last selling price just like all products and service are taxed that way. Abolish the fake appraisal taxation.

  The exact same scenario is going on here in Oregon.  The first full years’ tax after my wife and I built our home was right at $2,100.00.  Fast forward to now and the tax on the same home is right at $9,000.00.  They are robbing us of our equity as fast as they can.

  Why are all these data centers exempt from property taxes? They’re not churches or non-profits. Everybody’s utility rate, including water is going up to subsidize speculative private investment.

  I’ve applied for homestead exemption in Denton county and it’s taking forever to get approved and show what my tax will be. Our school tax is roughly half of property tax bill nearly 3k. We don’t have any kids going to school. Also waiting to see that they’ve added 60k of exemption since I turned 65.

  Everyone needs to know this: whenever your city holds a bond election, just remember that a BOND IS A TAX. It is not an investment. It is a tax increase. And I have voted NO on about 90% of them every time they come up. If these stupid bureaucrats can't live within OUR budgets then they need to sharpen their pencils and quit dumping it off onto us. We don't need any more $75,000,000 stadiums.

  If you own your home and 65, you can freeze the school tax, you still pay but the school tax rate won't go up. And You HAVE TO APPLY FOR IT. Ask your county tax office for an application.

  You can’t “reform” a property tax system that is designed purposely to blackmail Texans by force of law and the threat of being homeless to extort as much money as possible from them. &nbsp; <br>There’s so many loopholes that Appraisal Districts can use to keep raising the taxes despite supposed Legislature bills that they said would “lower the taxes”.<br>Property taxes for homesteaders must be abolished.

  This problem is so deep it goes all the way to Austin and how they fund things along with not keeping money seperate.<br>DFW grew to fast every city &amp; county growing bonded everything and future growth.<br>Remember when disticts like Forney ISD went bankrupt &amp; Dallas ISD had to shut down schools they didnt have enough money to meet payroll back in the 08 crash....

  There are three seniors who live in my home, all on SS. A little over half of the property tax amount is for the school system. We don’t have any kids in the school system, or even grandkids in the school system, yet we are forced to pay for something we don’t use or get benefit from. I have no problem with paying for road improvements and EMS and police, but schools? That’s a big no.
