Struggling with Bass Clef? THIS changes EVERYTHING!

  Wow!  I'm 55 and have been playing guitar since I was 12, bass since I was 14 and piano for the last 6 years.  I have never been able to sight read until watching this video.  I've counted up every note using the "Every Good Boy" and "All Cows" methods which has always just ended in me giving up and playing by ear instead.  In spite of years of trying and "understanding the concepts" since primary school.  I feel completely transformed.  Thank you!  This should be the absolute standard teaching method.

  Thank you!  I've taught using the "snowman" pattern, just read the bottom note add the third and the fifth.  Never thought about landmark notes being the C's (mirror image).  Very helpful, and I will give my students this new strategy when reading the bass clef!

  Oh my gosh - the waterline explanation is brilliant - I am a violinist wanting to learn cello but the only thing making it difficult was reading bass clef as well as I read treble. Thank you thank you thank you ❤

  I think the disconnect comes from the exaggerated space between the lines on the printed page. Knowing that there is only one phantom line between the two groups is my AHA moment. Thank you!

  I'm 74 years old.  I've always struggled reading music.  Though I've been playing guitar since I was 13, I always wanted to play some piano.  I decided to take lessons when I was in my mid thirties.  The piano helped me gain a better understanding of music, scales and all. I started to see Chords, the Music layout matched the Keys.  In all I wished when I was a kid, the music teachers would have taught this way.  Anyway, excellent video.  Thank you!

  The "reference" points you're describing I was taught as "landmark notes".  And for the chords, I was taught to read the bottom note, and play the shape, whether a blocked (root position) chord or an inversion.
