  It was a &quot;It takes a village to raise a child&quot; mentality back then. Loved it!! Most Parents worked. So it wasnt uncommon for a neighbor or neighborhood parent to put a swat on your ass if you got out of line. It was a mutual understanding. Parents weren&apos;t so insecure. If an elder put a swat on our ass and held us accountable, mom or dad wasnt insecure. It wasnt &quot;Why did you hit my kid&quot;, Theyd look at you and ask what you did, and your second ass whoopin was coming. A &quot;thank you&quot; went to the neighbor/elder. It was a mutual understanding.

  Gen X kids were told go go outside. Parents didn&apos;t care what you did. You just had to go outside. They used to have commercials on TV that would come on at night saying, &quot;It&apos;s 10 PM. Do You Know Where Your Children Are?&quot;. This is because parents would forget their kids were out. Search YouTube for the commercial. 😂

  Born in 1968 and I&apos;m thoroughly convinced that our generation was a government experiment to produce super citizens that went completely off the rails!

  1. Every word she said is true. She didn&apos;t even need to exaggerate for comic effect. 2. Helicopter parents are parents that are always hovering over their kids. GenX were latch key kids because we came home to no parental supervision as both parents worked. That meant FREEDOM to do what we wanted to do! 3. Sea Monkeys - look it up. They sold them off ads in the back of magazines, but they were just dead brine shrimp. 4. Seat belts were never used. 5. No one worried about getting kidnapped. 6. We got to go out after dark, by ourselves on Halloween. We&apos;d walk miles away from home, knock on strangers doors to ask for candy. No one cared. 6. Of course we had metal lunchboxes. They&apos;re collectors items now.
