  When I was 17, I told my grandfather about G-Shock watches and how they were basically indestructible — like a watch for life. He surprised me by saying I should get one on him, since if it was going to last forever, I’d always have it to remember him by, even when he wasn’t around anymore. To this day, I still wear that G-Shock, and every time I do, I think of him.

  That is such an anime plot; "my heirloom watch broke, therefore I shall spend my life exacting revenge on gravity by creating an unbreakable watch". I'd watch the hell out of it.

  The amount of Casio watches / G-Shocks that have been in space, worn on the wrists by astronauts, already tells you that there is absolutely no watch even remotely as cool as a Casio G-Shock.

  You missed the coolest part of the story: Ibe couldn&apos;t figure out how to create an indestructible watch; no matter what he tried failed. His inspiration was watching a child bouncing a ball at a playground—he had a &quot;Eureka&quot; moment, when he realized that the air in the center of the ball would be untouched by the impact. Thus, the idea of suspending the module in the center of the case was born.

  I bought my G shock when I was in construction. Then I wore it for my tour in the military. And after that I wore it through college. The only thing that finally made my G-Shock unwearable was my horrible memory. It worked great for almost 15 years and was still going strong when I lost it. For all I know, it’s still working almost 30 years later. &nbsp;To whoever found it, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

  I owned a G-Shock during my time in the U.S. Marine Corps. It was straight utility for me. It wasn&apos;t until after I finished my military service that I started to become a collector. I really love this brand.

  I LOVE my 5610U-1. &nbsp;Solar-powered, radio-accurate. &nbsp;Nowhere I wouldn&apos;t take it. &nbsp;It&apos;s one of the best purchases I&apos;ve ever made. &nbsp;It&apos;s perfection.

  After our house burned down in 1998, when I was 10 yo I lost my Databank casio watch. For Christmas my dad bought me a DW6600. I still have it, even though I had to change the original case (or outer shell) to a newer one. It still is able to do 10 bar resistance and I am still rocking it till this day. It is a symbol of toughness even in the harshest conditions, and whenever I look at it, I remember that.
