  they are called hammer on pull offs, he hammers the string to make the note then pulls off the same string in the same motion to get a second note in the same motion

  He's a MASTER of the "Hammer-On" and "Pull-Off" techniques in playing (you won't see actual 'plucking') and THOSE techniques require INCREDIBLE hand and FINGER STRENGTH. He also likes the action of his strings to be LOW. He's also a MASTER of the "Ring-Through" (how long the string plays once struck). You SHOULD watch the interview with Rob Scallon (How Marcin Breaks the Internet...) as he explains his techniques (of ALL places, on the floor of a hotel hallway), the camera is CLOSER during the interview and if you SLOW IT DOWN to about 75%, you can watch every finger as he plays the hammeron/pulloff techniques. He and Rob make some INCREDIBLE jam during the interview. It's WORTH it! THANK YOU for your WONDERFUL reaction again! Watch the interview and then watch him at 17 play "Master of Puppets". He will REALLY blow your mind!

  I'm not a guitarist, and I was also shocked to hear the guitar sound without plucking the strings. Someone commented on it this way: "He is "hammering" the strings with his left hand on the neck to play without strumming the string with his right hand. He hammers the string with such force that it vibrates as if he has strummed it ! Not only single strings but he hammers entire chords and he does it in a fraction of a  second ! It takes incredible STRENGTH and SKILL to do that while keeping perfect time without stumbling the song and OFF he goes to the next movement without a hitch"

  He's a genius. He does do post production editing. He has the tech savvy, gear, software, and the ability to use it. Oh, and he plays a mean guitar. 🙂
