I dont know any 90 year old living their best life.
People need the money to live, not to build it and leave for their heirs.

I am not sure why so many videos lead with “this is what most people are doing wrong” instead of “here is the optimal approach”. Telling me I am doing it wrong is telling me I am stupid which puts me on the defensive and makes me start being picky looking for flaws in your video.

Why would one delay “turning on” a pension if the amount is the same later? Just to avoid taxes? Aren’t you losing the amount you could have collected?

Interesting stuff. I have a question for you. My friend got injured on the job and was forced to apply for SSDI before he turned 60 — but also had to take his pension to maintain his medical until medicare kicks in.
He didn’t have a choice about what to take first. If he has a K Plan — what does he do? Start reducing the K , by moving an amount low enough to keep his taxes in check now - but high enough and consistently enough to lower his exposure later from required withdrawals?

I wish these guys would just throw the numbers out there. Keep in mind the order makes zero difference. It's all about income. An example 67k a year income keeps you in the 12% 67.4 k puts you in the 22%. This is for single person. Now your 63 this is when your premium is determined for Medicare. Keep that under 115k maybe a bit more . Check it out for yourself.

Yeah not great advice in my opinion. My disagreement is based on the fact that NONE of us know how long our life will be. The man that waits until later to start that social security and then dies a year later lost more money than the taxes he avoided. There are other videos that show how long you have to live to make up the difference between if you started drawing all of it as soon as you can. Watch those.

1. I'm tired of CFP's all giving contradictory advice. 2. This one seems to put all the emphasis on taxes, but not the big picture. Very unconvincing.
