Intel has a very promising future under Lip-Bu Tan’s leadership. Intel 18A brings major innovations, including RibbonFET gate-all-around transistors and PowerVia backside power delivery. Its defect density and manufacturing yields are also improving steadily. With Lip-Bu Tan’s semiconductor expertise, disciplined execution and focus on engineering, Intel has a strong opportunity to rebuild its manufacturing leadership, attract major foundry customers and become a much stronger company.

IBM was the semiconductor technology leader forty years ago, but missed the transition to making chips (CPU and DRAM) for personal computers. Intel took the leadership role since then until it failed to capture the transition to making mobile chips for Apple and Android about twenty years ago. It is very difficult to get back on the semiconductor technology track once you fell off. A better company strategy is to change direction such as what Lou Gerstner did thirty years to refocus IBM business solely on software/consulting. Li-Pu Tan's Intel strategy is heroic but an unrealistic status quo. It has very little chance to catch up to TSMC's capability (depth and scale), which came about after more than two decades of solid development. "Chip manufacturing in America" will likely depend on TSMC expansion in Arizona, not Intel.

I still don't believe that The Lip (who speaks broken English and probably still owns stocks connected to the Chinese Military?) cares about Intel products, especially Discrete GPUs. I guarentee you he will never mention discrete GPUs in this talk, if he does it will be in passing. Innovation has been decimated, nvme m.2 drives cost $2000, the PC industry is gone, it is over.

The future is open source software / drivers and open source hardware like RISC-V - all of these tech companies are self serving and ruthless competive and only care about enterprise AI.

The fact that The Lip has stocks related to the Chinese military, tells me he is an opportunist and only cares about himself and his money, I'd rather Pat came back and The Lip could run IFS after an extensive security check, I don't trust him

I analyzed this with AI as I can't understand The Lip - no mention of any affordable discrete GPUs - he says he is bringing top GPU, CPU engineers into the fold but all my AI Analysis returns a 20% to 30% chance for a discrete Druid GPU, maybe by 2028 or not at all. Considering Intel has been given billions of corporate welfare from the CHIPS Act and a Chimpster 10% US Stake, we may never get another affordable consumer pro discrete GPU from Intel.

All done by design to stifle innovation and make corporate AI more powerful? Open Source is the only way to go for software or hardware, all these tech companies are digging their own graves and we can truly create an open ecosystem with open source software and hardware. In the future all companies will be run by AI, what will we do then? Rely on Intel that won't even make an affordable discrete GPU, even after being given billions of dollars in corporate welfare?
