9:52 does an excellent job at describing when jobs were no bueno. 2000 to 2002 check. 2007 to 2011. And 2021 to now.
Note the slow bleed in this round. That's what happens with spending and monetary policy keep overfeeding an economy rather than letting cycles be cycles.
No one likes a downturn, but instead govt tinkering gets you slow bleed.

The gold price index vs money supply chart is very sensitive to the dates you use on the chart. Around 2000, gold was at very low prices as developed country's central banks sold off their gold.

Bond yields imo are just high temporarily because so much money moved from pensions and insurance companies go allocated to private credit. Even now they are forced to still buy that stuff because of prior commitments. Eventually as people realize packaging a bunch of B company loans and stamping the AAA rating on the CLO doesn't really work.... people return to investment grade and treasuries.

We're myopically focused on fighting inflation?? Seriously? Core inflation's been above target for more than 5 years and the last time they hiked rates was 3 years ago. Come on, Jim.

Trump didn’t have good economic advisors.

decent analysis but Paulsen seems a bit out of his element w bonds..yields are high because the amount of debt in circulation in exponentially higher than ever before and growing..you don't need a phd to know that

Very interesting...US economy is a bit of a Potemkin Village at this point. The middle class is squeezed and has stopped spending, the government is drowning in debt, corporations are borrowing more and more to fund AI build, and the consumer is also loaded up with record levels of debt. Drumpf's daily regurgitations, insanely destructive decisions, and rampant corruption and cronyism are speeding up the inevitable outcome.
