  So a lot of the reason they opted to print in universe versions of cards wasn't necessarily because players didn't like the universes beyond sets.  It likely has a lot more to do with "these cards need reprints, but we really don't want to have to pay licensing fees over and over"

  To add to what others have said about the term &quot;cantrip&quot; - within D&amp;D it&apos;s a spell that doesn&apos;t use a spell slot, so it&apos;s &quot;free&quot;. Similarly in mtg, cantrips being spells that draw cards are similarly &quot;free&quot; in terms of card &quot;spell slots&quot;. <br><br>That&apos;s how it was explained to me fifteen years ago when I start playing mtg at least<br><br>EDITED PS: Congrats on the wedding!

  I think that its nice that UB brings in a bunch of new players to Magic and opens up the game to people who may not have known about it, but on the flip side it also brings in all the toxic &quot;investors&quot; that are just here to scalp and resell which just hikes up all the prices to absurd amounts. The cons seem to weigh out the pros because of how bad the scalping issues are.

  Doctor Who also has Doctor’s Companion, which opens up deck options like GodzillaBig’s InuSai deck (K-9/War Doctor) and other pairings.

  My argument for &quot;Omenpath&quot; universes within versions of universes beyond cards is that more cards mean more artists get payed for doing something really creative. The Through the Omenpath set for MTG Arena has a fantastic vibe to it that reminds me of older magic sets while still encorporating the themes of heroes, villians and spiders into the story. If we get more stuff like that, that&apos;s 100% a win for me.

  Cantrip is originally a Scottish word and was made popular in America from its inclusion in D&amp;D.<br><br>Baldur&apos;s Gate is set in the Forgotten Realms, which is a D&amp;D setting.
