  When I was in Art School, I had to fill 2 sketch books with drawings of my own hands. I had another that was drawings of the same still life from different viewpoints of 3D geometric shapes with different textures and glass bottles, lit from different angles every day. &nbsp;<br>Another that was just the negative space of a random stack of stools and chairs set up in another corner of the studio. <br>When I got to sculpture &nbsp;courses, we had to make dozens of perfect cubes, and then morph them into individual unique sculptures without adding more than 25% more steel. We had to make and cast dozens of little knick knack sized pieces to learn the process and tecniques. <br>I had to make 5 piece matching sets totalling 100 cups bowls and plates in Ceramics class. <br><br>Those little balls might be a stonework apprentice&apos;s lessons and training. The master may have made the people he was training make them to learn proper technique. Making a perfect sphere from stone with hand tools would be a testament of skill with the medium and something a student would need to do countless times to be good and fast at. The textures as well, an apprentice would have to learn all the different styles and techniques they would use in creating the art they would be comissioned to make. <br>You get 1 shot with stone... you screw it up, you gotta carve down the entire piece to erase the mistake and maintain the proper proportions, or start all over. Its very difficult medium to work with. <br>They could be a stone carving apprentice&apos;s homework. 😂

  The Scottish stone balls could have been used in massages, like i use balls to massage my hand and palm, feet, back. They are quite comfortable. Stone balls could have been warmed up before use.<br>Also that Indus valley figure looks to me to be the devil, his ears slope down his chin and those horns are devlish.
