Such an amazing find! The one with the cranes and turtles is just STUNNING! I can't wait to go through everything in my storehouse! I saw a couple more scrolls when i was there a few weeks back and it's just incredible what I keep finding 🤩

Another detail in your great adventure. These posts will one day be as much a part of the houses journey as the scrolls you are now finding. Don't forget to tuck away your own time capsules as you renovate. In 100 years your photos will be the new mystery found in a draw or inside a wall.

If your interested in the value of these. The only one where im sure its financially valuable its the last one with the tiger. Here it would make sence to let it be mounted by a pro. The other old one it depends on the seal if it was a famous artist.
The others are not old enough to be interesting for most collectors so they wouldn't bring much money. Here it only makes sense to let them be mounted if you like them yourself. Otherwise the price of mounting is higher than the market value of these.

Hey great find, specially the one with orange moon looks lovely.
I'm pretty sure there's a way to fumigate them too, as they doo with books,
in order to kill off any microscopic bugs and their eggs,
to stop any further deterioration. those mall pinholes look like where they've been eaten through.

There is a red stamp at the bottom… that stamp may/can tell you who made it or which era it was made..

OMG! Treasures! Treasures! Treasures! What ever you do, please, please do not put them back in the cardboard box with the newspaper. 🙏 The tannic acid in the paper will damage them. If you can find them, buy some archival grade boxes and papers to wrap them in. I am envious at this point mate, good on ya! 👍

Very cool, I don’t recommend framing. I’d go to a professional conservator and get it backed with mulberry paper - the same stuff the scroll is made of. Art Shop Ezoshi in Kyoto can probably point you in the right direction

What's the history of the Akiya house? Always good to cleanse it before living in case of lingering spirits.
