  To compliment with this theory, you're forgetting one major voice audio from SOTM. In which Edwin is perplexed that Fazbear's didn't want to go with the Endo 01 designs he made, and changed them. Edwin even says "(...) Which, frankly, are rather creppy"; referring to (probably) the Unwithered.

  The &quot;unwithereds&quot; definitely were originally meant to exist, &nbsp;FNAF4 backs that up, but once Scott became less and less involved, they were essentially retroactively removed, and swept under the rug.

  Just for clarification, ohone guy doesn&apos;t say the Withered Animatronics would be &apos;repaired&apos; by retrofitting them with the new technology. Rather, they were in a fixed/complete state (whether as the Classics or as the &apos;Unwithereds&apos;) and only became &apos;Withered&apos; because they were used for spare parts, likely to use the &apos;new tech&apos; retrofitted into them on the new Toy line of animatronics. I&apos;m guessing this misunderstanding came from viewing the word &apos;retrofit&apos; as similar to repair, but it simply means to change or swap out old design elements for newer ones. They don&apos;t have to be in a state of disrepair to want to upgrade or update them. Yes, phone guy calls them &apos;ugly&apos; and comments on the smell they produce, but that doesn&apos;t mean they aren&apos;t operation or their parts are poorly maintained, likely just the casings (the &apos;costumes&apos; the endos wear to make them look like the characters).

  Golden Freddy also has Endo-01. And the suit that Phone Guy said in FNaF 2 is not Springbonnie, it was Withered Golden Freddy, but Phone Guy doesn’t know that it was a soul who used it.<br><br>While Fredbear and Golden Freddy are similar, they’re not the same. Fredbear is a slightly different design, and Golden Freddy is a direct recolor of Freddy. And Fredbear is only Fredbear himself and not a Freddy, Golden Freddy is a direct variant of Freddy since it’s in the name.<br><br>Fredbear’s design is not a recolor of Freddy. Even though it may look like it, his head shape is different along with his ear shape and his torso is slightly wider and more curvy. His eyebrows, hat, and nose are smaller, and his whiskers are slightly placed differently.<br><br>Fredbear and Springbonnie did not turn into Freddy and Bonnie, they are separate characters

  Personally I believe that the unwithereds are the original designs that the mci were stuffed in. Twb does say that fnaf 1 is the &quot;retro&quot; design but I don&apos;t think that&apos;s what Freddy looks like in the retro days but instead they made the Freddy animatronic to look like the &quot;retro&quot; fredbear design. (As seen in ucn looking near the same as fnaf 1 Freddy&quot;)

  So how do you explain that in 83 when the crying kid imagines the animatronics as nightmare versions of the Unwithered animatronics instead of the “classic” fnaf 1 looks? If you look closely at the Nightmares they resemble the Unwithereds more than they resemble the classics.
