  You should do an unbiased review challenge where you go in blindly to a selection of pre selected restaurants with bad/good/amazing reviews and see if your review matches

  French person here, I confirm that tipping is barely a thing, in France we usually don't tip unless we had a great time, the food was amazing and/or the staff was super nice. And it's usually not a big tip anyway, like, we leave the change we don't want to be bothered with. I think big and frequent tipping is more common in high end places though (where clients are richer).Places that automatically charge tips are tourist traps. It is OK if don't leave a tip, so if you are on a budget or didn't have a good time or a good meal, don't feel like you have to.

  If you are anywhere in France and the waiter asks you whether you wanna tip, you know you're in a tourist trap. French people usually tip very little, just to round up, and no waiter in any self-respecting place would ask you to tip.

  As a French person who knows these cafés, had a friend who lived in the neighborhood, we never went there. And I can guarantee that no French people eat there.

  Asking for a tip is a big no no ! Definitely a sign of a place that is targeting tourists not aware of tipping culture.

  The 'green' eggs will most likely have been eggs with the grey/green ring round the yolk. Happens a lot due to cooking/cooling. Safe to eat but unsightly.
