As soon as they put "you die I die" in the trailer I knew immediately that Steve is not gonna die. Also what they did with Steve's funko at the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon was such an obvious tease by them. They know everyone loves Steve, most likely he will only have a close call at some of the upcoming 3 episodes, but he is definitely not dying.

Steve not dying is becoming so obvious that now I feel like he's gonna die

I don't think Steve will die because it's just too obvious

I don’t think he’s gonna die, I think he’s just gonna have a death scare. That’s why Dustin might be holding him tightly on the verge of tears in the trailer, he probably got incredibly worried about Steve. They love beating up Steve each season or having the bats nibble on him the last season. It’s probably just gonna be another scare that will be extremely emotional and traumatic, but hopefully as always our boy Steve will make it out on the other side.

If Steve dies, dustin dies, he is not going to leave even if Steve asks him to, he couldn't recover from Eddie's death, he won't be able to survive this.

Folks I’ve not even thought about it being Christmas because this is what I’ve waited for! It’s what we all have waited for😂😂! This show pulls you in! Why do they even ask the cast questions like that?! They know they can’t answer!

So random, but I remember in my dream last night, I said Joyce's line "I think about that night ALL the time" 😂🤔 I can't remember what I was talking about, though LOL

Duuuuude. Dustin already lost Eddie. If he loses Steve as well, he’d literally k*ll himself, hence the “you die I die” 😭😭

I think Steve is the person falling through dimension x that might be what the duffers are saying

One of the duffers knocked johnathan off first, I personally think that was the hint. And Steve was the red herring!

 Dustin won't die.
Finn was in an interview along with Noah, Caleb and Gaten.
He was asked "Who will die in season 5?" He chose not to answer, then after a little bit he said "Dustin dies!"
If Dustin actually died, he would get in trouble because obviously, they can't spoil that information. So that being said, he does not die.
