I see that 71.9% of you watching aren’t subscribed! That’s about the same odds of spotting a bittern pretending to be a stick — seriously, they do that. Don’t be like the bittern — stand out and hit subscribe! 😅

What a lovely video and so down to earth reactions. A few years ago, I took up wildlife photography and enjoyed every minute of it. Capturing a wild otter in the middle of a town river was my ultimate video. You're a natural with the camera, and I do hope your channel grows and grows. Thank you for this interesting day at the reserve. 👍

The Raptor you wanted I'd, is a juvenile Goshawk. Topbird good shot. Really video . X

That was really entertaining, thanks! I love it how you know your birds in the field, I categorise them as Large, medium or small birds then rely on AI to tell me more when I get them on the computer!

Possibly a juvenile Goshawk or Merlin. If the tops of the wings were a dull brown, then goshawk, but the streak above the eye makes me lean towards Merlin. Great video, Amy.

Re your mystery raptor: definitely not a Merlin, all Falcons have dark eyes - your bird has a yellow eye, so that narrows it down to Sparrowhawk or Goshawk as well as the prominent supercilium (eyebrow) of those two species - however, only juv Gos has that lenghways streaking on the breast ( juv Sparroowhawk has barring, similar to adults) - the rounded tail would indicate Gos too (Sparrowhawks tend to show a squared off tail but this can vary for both depending on moulting).

I was at Ham Wall back in July, had an ace day, glad you enjoyed it as much as I did. I love Dragonflies & the bonus for me was finding out they had breeding Lesser Emperors there, a species I thought was only a vagrant from Europe. I was thrilled to be able to photograph & video coupled pairs egg-laying!
