I run a small company in Malaysia where I forbid employees to remain in office after 5:30. One day my clerk came to me and asked whether we have vacancies and if so, her husband would like to apply to join. I asked why would her husband want to join my company. She replied that her husband is working as an office executive in a big Japanese factory. However, he normally comes home at 10, sometimes 11pm. It's been like this for many years. When he comes home, he has no energy left for anything. Family life suffers. He can't take it anymore. Yes, working in a Japanese company is exactly what is described in this video. No one comes home before 10pm. It will literally suck the life out of you. Employment guaranteed till you retire, but it is incredibly inefficient and wasteful.

I have been here 22 years and worked in various places. This is all true especially the interminable, structureless, objective-free rambling meetings. Staying on so late (reluctant to be the first to leave and go home to the family and children) (and doing little) that next day they come to work tired and sleepy.

Besides the long hours, which by law you're paid, everything else is almost similar in some form in America. Though, this usually doesn't happen in small companies. Large companies, you're just a number.

"Giving your opinion to your boss is considered dangerous" in Thailand too, at least in a company where I'm working or maybe just the department I'm working for... 😄

it is peer pressure. their sense of justice is too low they don't stand up to injustice done to others . there need to be someone brave enough to stand up only then it will stop.

Hello Yumi, I can related with some of THE silent pressure as you stated in your video. I have been working for a large company for 15 years and we also have many concerns with management. When we all speak up sometimes they listen and change for a short period. My suggestion stay strong and hope things will change... oyasumi
