I remember reading in the newspaper he bought the ball Mark McGwire hit to break Roger Maris's record, #62, or was it #70? What I remember most about it was what he said after he bought it for $3 million. He said, "I have more money than brains."

I first met Todd at a car show in Boston "World of Wheels" in 1996 where he was showing off the real life version of the Spawn mobile. It was cold and rainy that day so turnout was low. Nobody really paid attention to Todd since it was a car show so I got to talk with him alone for almost an hour. The conversation covered comic and non-comic topics and he could not have been more genuine and nice. I told him at the time I was in the market for some original Spawn art. He told me a story about how he got screwed by Marvel because they wouldn't let him have or sell him the original cover art for Spider-Man #1. They basically told him to eff off and auctioned the cover instead. That's why he would not sell me any Spawn art at that time beacuse he really loves his art. That's all I have for now. He did sign a bunch of books for me that day which I still have in my collection.

Pretty much watched the whole thing going "Got it, need it, got it, got it, need it, need it, need it...." And then my wallet spontaneously burst into flames. Thanks a lot Dave 😑

I also love how he cares and chooses the best marker color and position of his auto on covers he signs for best visual effect.

I went to an estate sale and found a NM copy of that Previews with Spawn on the cover. The crazy part was, at the same estate sale there was a huge stack of Comics Buyer's Guides. I didn't know about the Spawn issue so like a dummy I didn't even bother looking through them. There was a good chance that CBG was there.

You have a very good take on X-Men. Thank you for the chance to win this great volume one.

You probably know this by now but you missed the Malibu Sun comic preview with spawn on the front the back and a full page layout inside. I believe it the most expensive comic aside from #300

A great video! It's hard to believe he's been at it this long. Since I first started collecting comics in 1974, I still thought of him a "new."

The back cover of Wolverine #6 is the best drawing of an uncowled Wolverine IMO
