Alfie uses this trick multiple times throughout the show. He asks for something outrageous, and if the other party accepts he knows they don't plan to honor the deal.

It is genuinely mind blowing how he steals the screen.
In the presence of Cillian Murphy no less.

Tommy's got a demon on a leash with Alfie... and Alfie wants Tommy (and everyone else) to know that the leash is only there until he's bored with it.

“The Russians cannot be trusted to pay us”

The fact that they approved his request for the egg proved to Tommy that they were not planning to actually pay him.

Thank you for not censoring your content, it's so annoying, like watching an official clip of The Boys where a guy gets ripped in half but they censor the swearing from his partner that just got covered in the guy's blood and guts

The egg is the 1898 Imperial Lilly of the Valley Fabergé, now valued at 15-18 million dollars though due to it being unique, essentially a priceless artifact.
A symbol how extravagant the wealthy were while most were literally starving.

This is genuinely one of the best performances from Hardy. Unreal.
