So glad Ziggy ended up in a good home. I am 74 years old. I have owned Arabians for the last 48 years . They have been one of the greatest loves of my life. Still own one today, one of my best friends.Thank You for saving him. See Ya Next Time

As a lifelong Arabian owner, I'm not surprised to see he is largely of Polish breeding. Polish horses have the best minds in the breed, able to fire up for the showring, and also to be a great babysitter for an inexperienced rider. They have a great work ethic, and are very people oriented. I just love watching Ziggy's story unfold

I know my comment will be buried among thousands, but I was deceived by a Facebook post and I wanted my comment to be made to the right person, Mz CC.

2 weeks ago I came across your video of Ziggy. I'm 61, lame with bad hips and knees, but still have my show saddle, bridle, chaps, hats and spurs from the 70s/early 80s when I was being trained, training, showing, and breeding Arabians.

I took one look at him and I kept thinking, "That looks like a Naborr line. He really looks Polish." And then I got to the part of your video where you'd dug into his history and the next thing I know I am BAWLING because you're showing all the horses I knew. I was at THAT 1979 Scottsdale show where Aladdin was shown. I knew that horse. I knew many of the horses.

Why was I crying so much? My very first Arab was a Naborr grandson by the name of Barna-B-Gazi, and he was the sweetest, kindest, friendliest horse you'd ever wanna know. The kind of horse that would let, and did, a 3yo lead him around by the whiskers, putting his head down low so she could reach. That horse, among others, taught me that God gives us gifts and one of the gifts (or talents) he gave me was an ability with horses. I miss it terribly, deeply, and profoundly.

Anyway.. I have so much more to say but it gets me very emotional thinking about it. I can't say just how much your videos and getting to live through you, since I can't ride anymore, means to me. Thank you. You brought me back. I have to look through photos when I can find them.

I recognized so many names in Ziggy's pedigree. Bask, Naborr, Aladdin & Raffles primarily.
I got my Raffles/Skowronek-bred Polish Arabian gelding 2 weeks before he turned 3 at a poorly publicized auction of herd culls from a large Arabian breeding operation. No one wanted to bid on Ariel (no I did NOT name him after the little mermaid, haha, I named him after the air sprite in Shakespeare's The Tempest). He was only 14.2, barely handled, not even truly halter broke and while he was extremely flashy, he was an explosive spooker. So I got him for only $500.
He was utterly terrified of people and it took years for me to teach him to relax.
And like Ziggy, he was very easily bored so he would invent scary places in the arena to spook at if I didn't keep his mind occupied with frequent breaks from arena work. He loved trail riding though, and excelled at basic dressage which I used to my advantage later when we won every trail class we entered, except one where we took 2nd. We did English Pleasure, Bareback, Command & Trail classes and even Driving. But mostly we wandered the fields and forests of northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.
Ariel was the true love of my life. He lived to 27 when he passed suddenly and painlessly (according to the vet) of a stroke.
I was in tears watching Ziggy's story because he reminded me so much of my Ariel.
I'm so happy you recognized Ziggy's worth and gave him a wonderful forever home. Thanks for sharing.

I figured he was well bred by looking at his conformation even as an older gentleman. I've been an arabian horse breeder for almost 50 years. As a breeder/owner of a US National Champion Stallion. This is what is wonderful about this breed. They are so resilient, forgiving, and given a chance, will excell in any discipline. Even though Ziggy was elderly when you rescued him once given proper nourishment, he bounced right back. This is truly amazing for a horse of his age. He has been willing for you and sound! This is very typical of the arabian breed. I've owned many past 30 years old and a few to 35, as long as they are well fed and well taken care of. Many are riden and sound into their late years. Arabian horses are not for everyone, but with proper training, they have to be one of the most loyal fun to ride breeds! Thank you for sharing with all of us your beautiful arabian gelding, Ziggy! I'm looking forward to seeing him on many trail rides ahead! ❤

Ziggy’s situation is testimony to how even good/great horses can fall into the “pipeline.” CC bought him for US$600!

I don't know if you read these comments, but I wanted you to know. The Disney movie "Miracle of the White Stallions", was about the horses rescued near the end of the WW11, On Ziggy's pedigree, Witraz, was one of the precious horses rescued during that heroic event. He was a national treasure. They had to move through fire and bombings, and Witraz had much of his tail singed off. Wayne Newton's Arabians were based on this lineage, and I got one of Mr Newton's fillies when he had the IRS sale... That pedigree has many of the great sires.

Watching you bring him home, seeing how shut down he was, and then seeing the strong, beautiful, sassy boy he has become is a testament to your love and care. He definitely loves you and I'm SO glad you're keeping him forever. ♥
