  The Greenville-Spartanburg Airport opened in 1962.  The idea of it came about in the early days of jet air travel when it was determined to be more economical for Greenville and Spartanburg to build a joint airport rather than each city building their own and competing for jet air travel.  Both cities had older airports that were not suitable for jet air travel. Each county paid half the cost of building the airport which is why it is called Greenville-Spartanburg Airport. The airport is governed by a 6 person commission 3 of whom must come from Greenville County and 3 must come from Spartanburg County.  Most of the airport is located in a part of Spartanburg County called Flatwood.  The full name of the airport is Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport, Roger Milliken Field.  Roger Milliken was the Spartanburg textile magnate who chaired the commission that built the airport, a very influential person in his day.

  Great video! I'm planning to visit at the end of month because I'm looking to relocate. It seems perfect for me, as a single woman, who loves nature and is coming from a midwest city. I want southern hospitality but with decent ethnic food options and of'course a multitude of churches to visit 😂

  As someone who has been to California numerous times over the years, the "you just can't beat CA climate/wether" is very subjective. Dry/barren/brown/dusty landscape in SoCal, wildfires, smog, drought, chilly ocean water, and lack of 4-seasons I personally do not find appealing at all. The Carolinas (especially in the western halves of the states) has the perfect balance of sun/rain, 4-seasons, clean/green/flora everywhere. It's not perfect, it does have humidity that a lot of people don't like. But my wife and I prefer the more tropical feel along the coast and our skin is healthier for it. Not trying to be mean, but CA's "perfect climate" is a bit overrated, lol.

  OMG did she just say San Diego! That’s where we are from. I’ve had my eye on Greenville SC for a minute due to a chance encounter on a cruise from someone who’s from there and raved about it. I need to plan a trip! My son just committed to Clemson and although I’ve been pushing for us to leave Cali for years… I think we have a good reason now. Clemson is beautiful so I imagine Greenville more of the same.
