  For me the biggest thing is the GEAR. Coming in as a low level with janky gear, seeing a mid level player with some cool stuff, but not "big armor", and then an endgame character with a matching set of gear and awesome weapons...really sells me on an MMO experience.

  Classic IS whimsical in the charming and imaginative sense because all of the art is hyper-stylized and not very realistic or gritty (for most of the game) but I definitely prefer classic's version of whimsy to what they have in retail

  Xaryu standing in Northshire Abbey, not seeing the whimsy... it's right in front of you, my bro.  That wagon wheel is not perfectly round.  The trees are angled and cartoonish.  I always thought the art style of WoW, compared to other RPG's, like for instance Elder Scrolls, was a little cartoony, or.. whimsical.  Yes.  Murlocs, silly one-liners, oddly shaped objects.  The whimsy is everywhere.

  Lol the whimsy is in the world, the kobolds literally wear candles. The whimsy is in the giant trees, and the ligytcoming throught the leaves. Its the epic music and daunting enterance to stormwind.

  Northshire abbey as a starting place is pretty whimsical - you start out doing some menial tasks in a charming forest does give some whimsy vibes imo. Not whimsy on a character level, but on a vibe level
