What stayed with me wasn't just Freddy's story, but a recurring pattern of human behavior: when identity is defined entirely by external expectations, personal purpose can slowly disappear. Family history often reveals patterns that extend far beyond a single generation.

Young children can easily remember traumatic events.

First time I have noticed on the end of the intro "Made By Human beings" that was brilliant

He had the heart and looks.
I believe that addictions are the result of trying to cope with tremendous pain .

I have extremely vivid memories from when I was 4. Nothing strange about that.

I had a neighbor who passed from liver cancer from alcohol just two weeks ago. He was 43, had a beautiful dog, but couldn't stop his drinking.

When someone drinks like that it's bc there's pain in their life that needs healing, and they try to bury it and not think about it bc they don't see anyone in their family whose willing to listen and be accountable. Yes it was his choice to drink, and everything else, but if you take alcohol out of the equation and deal with the underlying issues, there's family dynamics that everyone plays a role in, good and bad, that doesn't want the truth to come out. Family systems, everyone plays a part, and most of the time the family doesn't want the responsibility to look at what's really going on.
Narcissistic abuse, SA, the golden child, scapegoat, and many other issues could be part of the cause. But the family needs to point to someone other than the main reason, person, to take the focus off them.

He died a very long time ago... 45 years ago. He must have been a very heavy drinker for it to kill him so young, terribly tragic.

It happens to anyone I'm afraid. It happens to good people . My own mom God bless had alcohol problems in her later years, nothing rips a family like watching a loved one suffering alcohol abuse issues . I don't drink myself now , at all .
