  I lived in Savannah from 1986 to 2006. I used to take my lunch break and watch them filming Forrest Gump. I tried out for the doctor character. My line was, It's his spine Miz Gump. It's as crooked as a politician. They chose an older man who got the part. I was 43 but they wanted an older doctor. Great job! I enjoyed the look back.

  Fun fact about the Elvis scene, Kurt Russel played Elvis voice in the movie. In real life Russel actually met Elvis as a young kid starring in one of his movies.

  First time I saw this movie I was out to sea in the navy. They played movies every night and Forest Gump followed by Tombstone was a good night

  When you were in Beaufort SC, you missed a great opportunity to talk to someone who was actually in the movie.  The owner of an art gallery, The Rhett Gallery, in downtown Beaufort was one of the kids on the school bus who wouldn't give young Forrest a seat.  There is  a collage of photos in a corner of the gallery that a family member took during the filming.

  They may have filmed some scenes  on Hunting Island but most of the Vietnam scenes were filmed on Fripp Island, the next Island down. I was there when they were filming and I met Mr. Hanks on the beach.

  Forest used one of our products in the movie, he used a Snapper Lawn Mower that was designed & produced in McDonough Ga., I worked there 40 + years

  I’ve always like the scene where Forrest asked his momma, What’s vacation?  She answered, Vacation is a place you go and never come back.  I wish my vacations were like that.

  I rented "Forrest Gump" in April/May of 1995. The reason I chose it, was the line, "Life will never be the same once you've seen it through the eyes of Forrest Gump." That line has been true for me; if I could own only one movie for the rest of my life, it would be this one! Thank you for making this video! I very much enjoyed watching it and learned so much more about the neat places where the movie was filmed.
