I practice this, but I add a bit of fun into it. I start by drawing boxes, and imagine I'm drawing my characters, while adding their proportions.

Gotta say bro.. In the beginning I was like "ah shit man, he's breaking out cameras and angles, how complicated can we make this?".. Then.... "holy shit this is exactly what I was missing and it's amazing, and now I know it all.".. Thank dude, that was great.
