I have a friend who was a crewmember on the Potomac, and I have been aboard twice on cruises around SF Bay.

That's amazing, the grandson! So much history. The engines are awesome! Reversible too. Never knew there was such a thing. I love he had to tap the meter on the power panel. Running engines are awesome.

LOL.....he loves the "Iowa," but, doesn't know what she is? Oh My! The USS Iowa was not a destroyer... she is a BATTLESHIP! Okay....all laughs aside, I really enjoyed this tour of the Potomac... I remember living in SF when she was a wreck, a hot mess, waiting for restoration in the East Bay, and then one day she showed up in Stockton. Long story short, I was so impressed when the job was finally done. An amazing piece of history, and well deserving of the effort to restore, maintain, and actively use her! Thank you for sharing this video.

Paul, this was fascinating. I didn’t realize the USS Potomac was still in existence until I started searching and came upon your video. Thanks for the very thorough tour of this historic yacht and for taking the time to post this. Fascinating.

That vessel is a 3x USCG 165 foot cutter of the Argo class.

I would hope that this historic vessel is donated to the American people and preserved forever in a National Museum of historic significance to be viewed by future generations of the American public who paid for this vessel

You should do some research before posting “history.” President since Teddy Roosevelt had official yachts. Later, Truman had the Williamsburg; Kennedy had the Sequoia and the Honey Fitz; Nixon had the Sequoia; Carter sold the yacht.
