  And then in Egypt vs Argentina, he noticed the center was crowded leaving the sides empty and since Di Maria retired, there hasn't been anyone else that could perfectly replace him...so he unleashed an older, the winger part of him he kept in his archive and became Di Maria himself and moved to the side. He's the most complete footballer I've ever seen.

  He’s the best player in history and it’s not even close. His only trick was not speed so when he lost that it’s not really a big deal.

  What is interesting here is how much the entire system is working to still keep Messi able to perform. And obviously perform he does, but it shows how much of a team sport this is. Messi, at this stage, is not carrying the team. There have been world cups and tournaments where Messi has dragged mediocre teams further than they would have made it. In this case, the entire team is built around one man and letting him be who he is, and covering for the weaknesses that this creates due to his age. <br><br>If this is the &quot;right&quot; approach will remain to be seen. So far, its been working well enough with some flaws. But definitely love to see it.
