  There are many things that go into what it means to be Thailand. Thai people have gone through many hardships. We started from poverty, and we have Buddhism. But what has been accumulated and nurtured to become what we know today is the Thai people, along with an economy that, while not wealthy, allows us to sustain ourselves with reasonable prices. Compared to other countries, this is something difficult to compare ourselves to. One thing we have learned from the past to the present is the spirit of giving and living self-sufficiently. What does society gain from this? We grow our own vegetables, our own rice, our own livestock. If we have surplus, we sell it at a price that our neighbors can afford, using the profit to buy other things and support our families. This is one of the things that makes Thailand what it is today, allowing our economy to thrive without high prices, compared to other countries.

  As a native Thai residing in New Hampshire and I am sitting at home on a powerful blizzard and massive winter strom day, I am freaking jealous of all you guys😊. I was born and raised in Bangkok but I love Chiang Mai as well. You are in a right spot. I am quite proud of my homeland country that you are feeling in love and made a big move to relocate and live over there.
