  He died on my 4th birthday, and I was super annoyed - I had no idea who he was, but everyone seemed to be more interested in his demise than in my birthday.

  When I found out Elvis had passed, I was working for Kmart as a cashier. &nbsp;People started bring up Elvis records to the checkout. &nbsp;After about the 3rd person I got with Elvis records, I asked what was going on. &nbsp;The lady had tears in her eyes when she told me that Elvis had passed. &nbsp;On my lunch hour, I went to the entertainment area of the store, and bought 4 albums which I still have, including his last &quot;Moody Blue&quot; on blue vinyl. &nbsp;(Jan Griffiths).

  He died when I was 8 years old. &nbsp;I remember thinking 42 years old was so old.

  One of my hometown’s claims to fame is Elvis was supposed to perform two shows here on August 17 and 18, 1977.

  I used to work as a helper at a fishing resort in Northern Ontario, I met and became friends with a falla from Tennessee, he told me he knew Elvis, I didn&apos;t believe him and he got so mad and showed me a book with some pictures of him with Elvis, he was a bodyguard for years ans even had a ring Elvis gave him. He said Elvis was a really nice guy but had problems just like any human does and to remember no matter how fortunate a man is he will always have his share of struggles to overcome.

  my biggest flex is that my dad happened to be at graceland the day before the news of his death broke to the public, and he&apos;s got a picture he took with elvis&apos; uncle and a tour of graceland that day :3

  My mum was a huge Elvis fan. At her recent <br>funeral, the service was ended by playing out one of her favourite songs by him, Jailhouse Rock.

  Elvis paved the way for rock and pop singers to perform in Las Vegas. A sad day in rock music history. One of the few singers who could sing almost any genre and make it a hit. Sad that his demise was due to a combination of chronic health issues and poor lifestyle choices, as well as being exploited by his manager. I remember watching the news on TV about his death, and my mom crying as she was reading the afternoon paper. She loved Elvis since she was 12 years old. And I was the same age as Lisa Marie; her death years later floored me as well.

  Geraldo&apos;s report was definitely the most respectful tribute of the bunch. It&apos;s easy to forget how stuffy and judgemental a lot of reporters were at the time.

  I was on my way to go bowling with my parents when they interrupted the song on the radio to announce Elvis had died of respiratory failure..We were all in shock because we had seen him perform earlier in March of 1977..We has also seen him perform in June of 1976..
