  Based on this video, I went with a disc mulcher. The drum mulcher seemed to spend more time near the dirt where cutters would get damaged by rocks.

  The disc seemed to me much more powerful in mulching than the drum.

  keep that disk off the ground,  bought that exact head and had to replace two teeth holders in the first 8 hrs of use they wore through to the bolts.  loved running it though, its a learning process.  Definitely a need for both mulchers when doing it full time. There is no one machine or head that does everything.  you better have a second job to support your mulching passion tho, maintenance is a B%%^^  if you keep up with it like your supposed too.  Love watching your videos.

  I had 1 mile of trails cut 60 to 70 inches wide on 50 acres so I could get me a UTV around to certain spots. I used caution tape to map out the trails. The guy came and said he would use the disc mulcher instead of a drum. I said I would walk with him and he said stay 50-60 yrds away and just wave your hands in the air if you need to talk. He started at daylight and stopped at dark. Got it all done for $1800. He said the drum would have taken 2 day. Happy with the results.

  This is just painful to watch. Why do all skidsteer "mulching " guys do 1 tree at a time with the karate chop method? They lift up, and chop down. You have a push bar for a reason. You have shown why someone should NEVER buy a disc mulcher if they are looking for production.  You are literally doing 1 tree at a time. My machine would seriously be 100 yards ahead with the method you are using....

  Your cutting too high, cut them at the base. Less stump to grind.

  Everyone runs their machine differently, and I know you said this was the first time you ran this cutter type, but you are cutting the trees too high up. Cut lower then raise the cutter up a little and turn to the left to let the tree get into the mulching part, and it will pull it straight through. After you run it enough, you will get the hang of it. You got the job done anyway, and that is what counts. Good Job.
