  This was a great episode. Mignola has compared colouring in comics to the soundtrack in a movie as a way of setting the tone and this vid explains how that works so well!

  Something I've always loved about the visuals of the Hellboy comics aside form the color choices themselves, is how there's nearly always only 4 colors in use for each panel. It's such a minimal approach to the visuals yet it contributes to making the comics feel so full of life.

  You always have such a unique approach to talking about comics. Instead of taking a more literary view and justifying metaphors and themes often I see you effectively explain how the elements of the medium work to tell the story or convey a feeling but leave interpretations of the meaning to others. I really appreciate that about your work and always look forward to new videos, I mean the author is dead anyway right?

  This video definitely reinforces what i've always thought- obviously, mignola's the star of the show, but it would be foolish to ignore the importance of the colorists. That's why when Duncan Fegredo drew some issues it felt so natural, cus the colors are still there.

  Amazing video! I love it :) I always love Mignola linework it's so expressive but now I can say its more combination of color and his inking. Thank you for that :)

  This was one of the best videos in maybe half a year where I felt that SPN had to take the backseat because of all the other projects being worked on simultaneously - which is completely fair. But that&apos;s why I enjoyed this episode even more and felt reminded of all those amazing SPN videos from some time ago. So thanks for this great content and I hope to see more of it soon.<br>Oh and by the way: isn&apos;t this yellow tone in the climax of the issue linked to the spirit of the beast, manifested in the yellow color of his eyes?

  Probably my all time favorite Hellboy story. The one I read and “got” what Mignola was doing with his bold blacks and minimalist line work. Which is funny looking back, since the dialogue and art style seem busy compared to later Mignola stuff.
